Welcome to our Frome Swimming Club Newsletter. We hope this finds you well
and you are all looking forward to the Easter break.
As we begin to ease out of the latest lockdown we can prepare ourselves to
return to the water. Although sadly this will not include everyone.
Fusion have confirmed that clubs may return to training from the 12th April.
Unfortunately this does not include over 18’s or our Senior Water Polo. The
Government have confirmed that people who were 17 on 31 August 2020 but
have subsequently turned 18/will turn 18, are able to resume organised
activities such as club sessions from 12th April; older swimmers will have to wait
until May. This is extremely frustrating but is not a decision made by the club or
Fusion but enforced by the Government. However, public swimming sessions
are available for older swimmers if they would like to get back into the water
before May.
We have also been in contact with Downside School to reopen talks about
getting our Stages swimmers back into the water as soon as possible. When the
school is given the go ahead for outside contractors to return to their premises
the club will move as quickly as possible to make it happen. Fingers crossed this
is not too far away.
Throughout lockdown the squad have taken part in Strength & Conditioning
sessions online on a Wednesday and Friday. These session will continue when
we return to the pool and the coaches will expect you to continue to attend as
part of your training regime.
Although the return to swimming is not currently for everyone it is a light at the
end of a long and dark tunnel and hopefully in the not too distant future we can
all be back doing what we love with the people we’ve missed.
Stay safe x
