This summer, Junior Squad coach Tegan Carpenter-George was invited as a coach to the Summer swim coach held at Bryanston school in Dorset. This camp is run yearly and is a great opportunity for young swimmers to gain skills and confidence. This year, swimmer Caitlin Elkins attended the camp and she wrote the following camp review:

"I attended the Swim England camp at Bryanston School from Sunday 11 – Saturday 17 August 2019. Once signed in we were given our timetable and a name badge we then headed upstairs to find our room, we were placed in dorms with swimmers of the same ability. I chose the bed near the window which had a fabulous view over the tennis courts. After the fire drill and getting to know everyone we headed to the pool.

Everyone did a timed 200IM to see how we would improve by the end of the camp.

The day started early with breakfast starting from 7.00am – 8.00am depending on your timetable, lights out were 9.15pm.

Each day consisted of two swim sessions lasting 75 mins each, a land conditioning session also 75 mins with varied activities including a very tiring spin session, lots of aerobic challenges and games. Some of the sessions were very tiring but also great fun and worth the effort. There were daily sessions in the classroom covering subjects such as nutrition, muscle groups, and swimming techniques.

We were very privileged to be coached by James Guy who represented England at the Olympics in Rio 2016. He focused on diving, turns and techniques for front crawl he was very inspirational.

There were activities organised in the evenings, archery, quiz night, team games, plus an evening lecture from James Guy on his life story.

Friday night we had our final swim session and once again repeated the 200IM, I was very pleased that I improved by 6.5seconds.

I would highly recommend the camp, it was great to learn new skills, and everyone was very friendly especially as I was the only swimmer from Frome. I can’t wait to go again next year."
